#No Exemptions
Developed with MICHAELA MAXI SCHULZ
Produced by THE SHIFT THEATRE
Directed by SUSIE DEE
A mother’s lament, a poet’s surrender, a child’s rebellion and a narcissist’s appreciation of good lipstick…
#NO EXEMPTIONS is a new work for theatre.
In a future of ecological collapse where safe water provision, food distribution and government has failed; Maria fights to see her son one last time before youth militia take her away.
This play savagely critiques current privilege and inequality – with a twist and not without humour. Told from the intimacy of one family’s crisis it illustrates that no amount of privilege can protect any of us from environmental Armageddon. We share one world.
We need to imagine our future – so that we can change it!
#No Exemptions was initially developed with German director, Michaela Maxi Schulz, and in Australia is being produced by The Shift Theatre and directed by Susie Dee.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
